Account information: Full name, email address, phone number, and password (hashed) when you register.
Driver information: South African driving licence number, vehicle registration, make, model, and year, as well as banking details for payment processing.
Booking information: Pickup and drop-off addresses, cargo description, selected vehicle type, date, time, and payment method.
Usage data: Pages visited, actions taken on the platform, browser type, and IP address for security and analytics.
Newsletter: Email address if you subscribe to promotional updates.

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account.
To process bookings and connect clients with drivers.
To send transactional emails (booking confirmations, status updates, account notifications).
To send promotional emails to newsletter subscribers (you may unsubscribe at any time).
To process driver payments and calculate commissions.
To improve the platform and detect fraudulent activity.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as necessary:

Between clients and drivers: Contact details and job information are shared to facilitate completed bookings.
Service providers: We use Supabase (database and authentication), Brevo (email delivery), and Yoco (payment processing). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by South African law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. We implement row-level security to ensure users can only access their own data. Despite our efforts, no system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password for your account.

6. Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active, or as required to provide services and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us at info@capeload.co.za.

7. Your Rights (POPIA)

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate information.
Request deletion of your personal information.
Object to the processing of your data for direct marketing.
